veteran performer, educator and motivator, Crystal
Plohman embraces many styles of music to create her unique style of
violin. Crystal's music blends a rich, melodic and provocative
sound with a genuine feel for the rhythm and subtlety of folk music –
a product of her exposure and study with masters of both genres.
Crystal is currently Fiddling Program Director at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music in Nashville. She was promoted to the position in 1999 after spending four years as a teaching assistant for internationally renowned fiddle virtuoso, Mark O'Connor.
For the last six years, Crystal has worked extensively with teachers and students worldwide, teaching different aspects of fiddle music at various music and string camps, Suzuki workshops and specialty clinics. She has recently joined forces with Knilling String Instruments to present her clinic series "Connecting the Strings" to students and teachers in schools and at educational teacher conferences across the United States.
